Steve Roberts of River Days - River fishing and guiding service
The Loddon
Rising in Hampshire the Loddon brushes the outskirts of Reading before flowing into the Thames at Shiplake. The Loddon is a river of note, with some excellent fishing in lovely surroundings. Full of varied character, and dotted along its length with picturesque mills, its pastoral nature makes for a delightful day by the river. Its nights, too, can provide superb sport with its resident barbel, and in winter, after a frost and a flood to clear the river of its prolific summer vegetation, the chub fishing is very good indeed, with deep, heavy fish a regular reward.
